Juventus boss Massimiliano Allegri sends Jurgen Klopp message

Juventus boss Massimiliano Allegri has explained why he likes Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp.

The 54-year-old put pen to paper on a two year extension on Thursday, to extend his stay at Anfield until 2026. He took charge in October 2015 and if he sees out the entirety of his contract, his tenure at Liverpool will span over a decade.

Allegri, currently in charge of Serie A giants Juventus, has been speaking about Klopp after the contract announcement and explained why he likes the Liverpool boss.

He told reporters on Saturday : “I don’t know Klopp very well but I like him because he doesn’t take himself seriously and he’s very good. In Italy, you tend to throw coaches out overnight, being on the same bench can be an advantage for everyone."

The comments come after Juventus president Andrea Agnelli affirmed his trust in Allegri as their long-term manager, despite the Champions League exit to Villarreal and the fact they currently sit fourth in the table behind Napoli, Inter Milan and AC Milan.

Klopp himself expressed in his press conference on Friday that Anfield is still 'the right place to be', as he told reporters: "I realise obviously that people are happy about it, and that’s good, and I’m very happy about it as well. It’s for me in this moment in time the place to be, to be honest.

“This club offers a lot. We are building a new stand again, it’s a sign that we never stop trying to develop the situation. We have a team in the best age group, but, time is running, that’s how it is. We have to do a couple of things."

Liverpool continued their fight for the Premier League title on Saturday with a 1-0 win over Newcastle United at St James' Park. They now face a Champions League semi-final second leg against Villarreal on Tuesday night, as they take a 2-0 lead to El Madrigal.
