Denver Broncos safety Justin Simmons will serve as an honorary captain for the 2024 HBCU Legacy Bowl, the all-star game announced last week.
The first HBCU Legacy Bowl occurred in 2022 and is presented by the Black College Football Hall of Fame. The Legacy Bowl’s intent is to bring awareness to the best eligible players from Historically Black Colleges and Universities.
Simmons will serve as an honorary captain for the 2024 installment of the Legacy Bowl on Saturday, February 24th at 3 p.m. The game will be played at Yulman Stadium in New Orleans.
Several Broncos players have came from the Historical Black College and Universities landscape. Shannon Sharpe, Rich “Tombstone” Jackson and Billy Thompson all starred at HBCU’s before donning the navy and orange.
While HBCU’s may not have the cache in terms of an Alabama or Ohio State, they have more than delivered on the talent they have sent to the NFL over the years.
