A member of the Denver Broncos’ 2022 defense has been added to the AFC’s roster, but it wasn’t star safety Justin Simmons.
Bradley Chubb, who started eight games for the Broncos last year, was added to the Pro Bowl as an alternate, replacing Los Angeles Chargers pass rusher Khalil Mack. Denver sent Chubb to the Miami Dolphins last fall in a trade that landed the Broncos a first-round pick for April’s draft.
Several other players have been added to the AFC and NFC rosters this week, but Simmons is not among them. In order to make the Pro Bowl as a first alternate, Simmons needed Pittsburgh Steelers free safety Minkah Fitzpatrick to drop out of the all-star flag football game. At the time of this writing, Fitzpatrick is set to play in the Pro Bowl.
So it looks like the Broncos will be represented by one player at the Pro Bowl this year — cornerback Pat Surtain is set to be a starter for the AFC after being voted in by players, coaches and fans in December.
The flag football Pro Bowl game will begin at 1 p.m. MT on Feb. 5.
