Justin Fields believes Bears have the pieces in place to succeed

The Chicago Bears’ roster has come a long way since general manager Ryan Poles took over last offseason. In fact, Poles has made significant progress just this offseason alone with the addition of some impact players on both sides of the ball.

One thing that’s been evident this offseason is how Poles has worked to build around quarterback Justin Fields, who’s entering a pivotal third season.

Whether that’s the acquisition of wide receiver DJ Moore in a trade of the No. 1 pick or the additions along the offensive line with first-round tackle Darnell Wright and veteran guard Nate Davis, the Bears have significantly upgraded the supporting cast around Fields.

“I feel like we’ve got a lot of pieces on offense and defense,” Fields said, via ChicagoBears.com. “I know everybody’s excited [about] really just the whole team and the players we’ve got. So [we’re] just going to keep working, keep stacking each and every day and get better.”

While the offense has improved, the defense has seen an influx of new players to help improve a unit that struggled immensely last season. The biggest additions were at linebacker with free-agency additions Tremaine Edmunds and T.J. Edwards.

Chicago also shored up the defensive line with the additions of Andrew Billings, DeMarcus Walker, Rasheem Green and rookies Gervon Dexter and Zacch Pickens. They also added depth at cornerback with rookies Tyrique Stevenson and Terell Smith.

While the Bears still might be one year away from contending, it’s impressive to see how Poles has improved this roster in just two offseasons.
