Justin Fields is having a bit of a breakout year in 2022. After a slow start to the season, the former Ohio State quarterback has figured some things out and showing the league why he was a first-round draft pick. And while the wins have yet to follow for his team, there’s no longer a question of whether or not Chicago can build around Fields under center.
The Bears still have to be better in the passing game but once the coaching staff figured out Fields has an elite ability to make plays with his legs, it has turned things around a little and has Chicagoans hopeful for the future.
Case in point: Fields surpassed 1,000 yards rushing for the season on Saturday by gobbling up 95 yards on the ground on 15 carries (6.3 avg.). He joins Lamar Jackson and Michael Vick as the only quarterbacks to surpass 1,000 yards in a season by a quarterback in NFL history.
That’s rare company, and Fields is just getting started.

And don’t look now, but Fields is within striking distance of the single-season rushing record by a quarterback. He sits at 1,000 yards exactly and is only 206 yards back of Jackson’s record. He’ll need to have two more fantastic games rushing to close out the season, but it’s at least something for Bears and Buckeye fans to root for.
