Justin Bieber admits he had 'emotional breakdown' after marriage did not 'fix' problems

Justin Bieber has revealed that he had a "little bit of an emotional breakdown" after realising his marriage to Hailey would not solve his personal issues.

The 28-year-old spoke with Apple Music's Ebro Darden, where a clip was exclusively shared to People on Monday. During the interview, Bieber spoke about the "journey" of married life with Baldwin and also confirmed that a new studio album is close to completion.

The Canadian singer rekindled his romance with Baldwin in June 2018 - following a brief relationship between December 2015 and January 2016 - before the couple got engaged a month later.

They were believed to have got married at a courthouse in New York City later that year, with both contradicting whether the marriage was legitimate before having an official ceremony in Bluffton, South Carolina in September 2019.

With the public eye constantly on the pair, there has certainly been strains on the relationship but the couple still remain strong in their marriage.

"It's a journey. I remember when I first got married, I hit a little bit of an emotional breakdown because I thought marriage was going to fix all my problems and it didn't," Bieber told Darden. "It just kind of was a reflection of like, man, you're a bit of a hypocrite man.

"You want your wife to do something that you're not doing and it's like, it's hard sometimes to look in the mirror and really have to realise, man, maybe you're not the person that you necessarily thought that you were.

"And that's just a result of trauma and life circumstances."

Despite only releasing Justice last year, the Peaches singer revealed that his seventh studio album is not too far away.

"I don't think there's a date yet, but I do know that we're wrapping it up," he told Ebro. "It's almost done. It sounds really good. I'm really excited about it. I got a lot of cool features and yeah, it should be dropping not too long from now."

One of the musicians set to feature on the new album is John Mayer, who Bieber admitted was someone he admired.

"He's someone who I've looked up to for a long time," he said of Mayer. "So we were at Henson the studio, and I was working on this song and he came in and he's like, 'Can I go in the booth?' And I was like, 'Yeah, bro, go in.'"

"And so he went in the booth and then he came out and he laid a guitar solo and it was just like, it was mind-blowing to see him actually operate in his gift like that, being able to like see it first-hand, because like he is on another level. It's insane."
