Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas was present at the session on Tuesday after missing oral arguments on Monday without providing any explanation for his absence.
Chief Justice John Roberts made the announcement on Monday that Thomas would not be participating shortly after the court convened for arguments in a public corruption case. It is worth noting that in the past, the court has typically offered some clarification when a justice is absent, often citing reasons such as illness. On occasion, justices have been able to participate remotely in arguments.
Thomas, who is 75 years old, had previously missed several arguments in 2022 due to being diagnosed with an infection.
Despite inquiries, the Supreme Court did not provide any additional information regarding Thomas' absence on Monday, when his fellow justices heard arguments in two cases.
