Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson has come out in defence of his England team-mate Harry Maguire after the Manchester United skipper was booed by his own fans on Tuesday.
Maguire's named was jeered by sections of the Wembley crowd before the friendly with Ivory Coast and at various times throughout the match, too. The centre-back helped England keep a clean sheet, as they were 3-0 victors.
At club level, the 29-year-old has been enduring a torrid campaign for the Red Devils and his form has been questioned by their fans frequently. United are out of the running for any silverware and are outsiders to finish in the Premier League's top four.

However, Maguire has typically performed well for England and he's been a regular under manager Gareth Southgate in the team's run to the 2018 World Cup semi-final and the Euro 2020 final last summer.
And after Southgate branded the reaction toward Maguire an "absolute joke", Henderson shared his own statement on social media about the Red Devils defender.
"I can't get my head around what happened at Wembley tonight," said the Liverpool midfielder. "Harry Maguire has been a colossus for England. Without him, the progress made at the last two tournaments would not have been possible.
"To be booed at his home stadium, for no reason? What have we become? What happened tonight was just wrong. As someone who wants to win with England, I feel fortunate to share a dressing room with him. We all feel the same!"
Those sentiments were later echoed by West Ham United midfielder Declan Rice, who said those fans who booed are a "total embarrassment."
Henderson did not feature on Tuesday, but did play the full 90 minutes as England beat Switzerland 2-1 on Saturday in an earlier friendly.
