When fanny packs reentered the fashion lexicon a few years back, they were rebranded as belt bags. Which makes sense since who really wants to rock something called a fanny pack and they do involve a bag attached to a belt that goes around your waist. Times they are a changing and now the phrase has found a new domain. That's because belt bags now refers to all manner of handbags that actually feature a belt somewhere on their person. It's kind of the exact opposite of fanny packs. Thank goodness.
The belt or belts serve no function in most cases. They're solely for decoration. Fashion houses are all in on this recasting. Givenchy's red hot take is on the top of our shopping list. It definitely fills the buckle quota with a quartet on each side. It's been billed as an It bag for winter, but we think it's more akin to spring. Moschino also almost overdoses on belts, wrapping several around its top-handle creation. Prada is another backer, offering both an untraditional bucket bag and a small leather handbag. Its sister brand Miu Miu makes it mini with an adventurous nappa leather bag. While Manolo Blahnik's peachy pick comes in clutch form.
