Just Eat Takeaway and McDonald's to join forces for delivery partnership

McDonald's is set to expand its delivery horizons following a partnership with Just Eat Takeaway.com.

Both chains, McDonald's Corp and Just Eat Takeaway.com have entered a "long-term global strategic partnership" to expand delivery.

McDonald's has more than 14 sites in Liverpool and over 1,000 in the UK, and offers delivery at 33,000 restaurants in 100 countries through a variety of platforms including Uber Eats and Deliveroo. However, Just Eat hasn't been part of the McDelivery business, until now.

Just Eat told Reuters that the partnership will "support growth of the McDelivery business and will lead to increased operational benefits for Just Eat Takeaway.com." The new global agreement is also said to reduce complexity and improve operational efficiency. The partnership comes following a decline in takeaway shares since 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Just Eat currently employs more than 1,500 people in the UK but no details have yet emerged over whether this new partnership will create more jobs. Financial details of the new partnership have also not been disclosed.

Just Eat launched in Denmark in 2011 and slowly built up a profitable business that now sees them operate across the world. In 2022 the business earned a combined profit of £2.1 billion and the year also seen Just Eat roll out new zero-hour, part-time and full-time roles in the UK.

More details of the partnership are set to be released soon including when McDonald's will be added to the Just Eat platform. For updates or to order a takeaway visit their website here. You can also check out job opportunities here.
