'Just been booed off' - Andy Robertson makes 'incredible' Liverpool claim

Andy Robertson praised his Liverpool team-mates for an 'incredible' defensive shift in the second half of their 2-1 win over Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday evening.

Mohamed Salah's first-half double in North London was enough for Liverpool to move to within seven points of fourth place in the Premier League as they recorded their first away win of the campaign.

The Reds were under pressure for much of the second half, especially after Harry Kane's goal halved the deficit, but Jurgen Klopp 's side were able to hold on to a vital three points.

PLAYER RATINGS: Mohamed Salah and two others superb in win over Tottenham

VERDICT: Jurgen Klopp will have loved what Tottenham fans did moments before Liverpool win confirmed

Robertson was a thorn in the side of Spurs during the first half at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium with the space he was being allowed down the left side of the pitch.

But the Scotland captain was more pleased with the efforts of his team-mates, saying: "We could have been better on the ball and tried to do better to find the front players. At the end of the day, you are coming to a top six team who have just been booed off at half-time and have a manager who expects a reaction, and I think they got that.

"We stood up to it and could have controlled the game a bit more, but the lads put in an incredible shift defensively and it was an all-round good performance. Good on the ball in the first half, good off it in the second half."

Robertson touched on a 'really professional performance' from Liverpool as Antonio Conte's side are well known for coming on strong in the second half of matches.

" We knew that if they were playing three at the back, me and Trent would have a lot of space and to try and capitalise on that," added Robertson. "We got forward and were able to provide the chances for the boys up front and they made the magic happen.

"Luckily we had a two-goal advantage and we know they are better in the second half, but we stood strong and it was a really professional performance."
