A Sydney man charged with murder after a fatal fight in a Sydney CBD hotel is facing a retrial after jurors hearing his case were discharged.

The sudden and premature end to Connor Godfrey's NSW Supreme Court trial occurred on Tuesday.

The 21-year-old has been accused of murdering 43-year-old Giuseppe Pagano in a Haymarket serviced apartment building in the early hours of Easter Sunday in 2021.

Godfrey had pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The matter will next come before the court on April 28.
