Manchester United might have fresh hope of completing a deal for Ajax starlet Jurrien Timber after all with his agent in Manchester.
The Red Devils have been linked with a swoop for the versatile young defender for the majority of the summer, with new boss Erik ten Hag understood to be a huge fan. However, the Dutchman’s initial attempts to tempt Timber to Old Trafford looked to be ending in frustration.
It was suggested that Timber was not convinced of a transfer to United, with doubts over his place in the Netherlands national side should he fail to earn a role in the first-team should a summer move be completed.
Meanwhile, former Red Devils manager Louis van Gaal has advised the 21-year-old that a switch to Old Trafford would not be in his best interests and could put his promising development on the buffers. Whilst it now appears that the prospect of a deal looks to be remote, Timber’s representatives were spotted in Manchester - renewing fresh hope over a summer switch.
His representative Revien Kanhai uploaded a picture of the city to his Instagram story with the caption: “Love to travel for work”.
It of course remains to be seen whether his activities are linked to the future of client Timber but it appears that another of his players could be on the move. According to reports, young Manchester City defender Issa Kabore - another client of Kanhai - is closing in on a move to newly-promoted Nottingham Forest after impressing on loan with Troyes last season.

Whilst it appears that would be Kanhai’s priority, that does not rule out the possibility of a number of deals being negotiated during his trip to Manchester.
Ajax though might well take a different stance on things as Timber continues to be linked with a move to Old Trafford. Mirror Sport understands that Ajax are not keen on their former boss Erik ten Hag conducting a major raid on the Johan Cruyff Arena this summer.
The Red Devils have of course already been linked with a number of Timber’s colleagues including Brazilian winger Antony and Argentine defender Lisandro Martinez. However, Ajax are not keen on letting both go having already waved farewell to a number of key players this summer.
A move for the former does appear to be slightly closer to being completed with reports suggesting that an Old Trafford delegation has travelled to Amsterdam in an attempt to thrash out a deal with the Eredivisie champions.
The Red Devils of course are still linked with a move for Barcelona star Frenkie de Jong but as of yet, they are yet to meet the £70m asking price.
