Jurrien Timber reveals stance on Arsenal and Man Utd transfer after £30m Ajax bid tabled

Ajax star Jurrien Timber has admitted he doesn't know where his future may lie amid links with a move away from the club this summer transfer window. The 22-year-old has been the subject of interest from both Arsenal and Manchester United as the 22-year-old enters the final two-years of his contract.

Timber has been linked with a move to Old Trafford in particular for over a year now, with Erik ten Hag's switch to the club as manager prompting such a deal. The Dutch coach has already brought two of his former players from Ajax to the Red Devils in Lisandro Martinez and Antony.

It remains to be seen if Timber will be the third, but it appears as though Arsenal have looked to get ahead of their rivals in the transfer window. Arsenal have made an opening approximate £30million bid for Jurrien Timber., but the Dutch international is valued significantly higher by Ajax and football.london understands the Gunners will need to improve their offer considerably to land the defender even with the two years remaining on his current deal.

With the north London outfit narrowly missing out on the Premier League title last season, as well as the return of Champions League football next season, the need for depth and quality is clear. Timber is able to invert from right-back, offering balance to their backline, while also adding depth there and at centre-back.

The Eredivisie side are said to be holding out for £50million to make a deal happen, though Arsenal may look to negotiate a lower fee. With a dwindling contract, Timber has already spoken out on a move, saying earlier this month to Vandaag Inside: "Will I stay with Ajax anyway? I’m not sure, I can’t stay that. I’m not in talks with Ajax now. My agent had a good talk a few times, but it’s not like we’re talking about anything right now.”

While that may come as a boost to those pursuing a move, the Dutch international has outlined his conditions for a move, saying in May: "For me it is the same situation as last season. If I say: I'm leaving, it has to fit. Playing style is important, playing minutes… Participating in the prizes is also important. My favourite country? I dare not say that.

"That's why I'm doing the same as last season. The chance is there, it can happen, but I’m also good here. I'm still young and everything suits me here. I’m going to take a look."
