Jurgen Klopp vs Ole Gunnar Solskjaer comparison shows how badly Liverpool FC are doing this season

Liverpool have endured a difficult start to the season, and Jurgen Klopp's record so far this campaign is actually worse than Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's was when he was sacked by Manchester United.

The Norwegian coach was dismissed by the Reds in November 2021 after more than two-and-a-half years in charge at Old Trafford, with Solskjaer being relieved of his duties following United's 4-1 defeat at Watford.

When the 49-year-old was let go, United were seventh in the Premier League table and had recorded just 17 points from their opening 12 top-flight matches.

In comparison, Klopp's Liverpool side currently find themselves ninth in the league table - registering just 16 points from the first 12 matches of the campaign. The Merseyside club have suffered back to back league defeats to Nottingham Forest and Leeds United respectively.

At the time of his dismissal last year, United had won five times in 12 games under Solskjaer, drawing on two occasions and losing five matches. Meanwhile, Liverpool have a Premier League record of four wins, four draws and four losses after 12 matches so far this term.

Klopp also currently shares an identical record with Roy Hodgson's Liverpool side after 12 matches of the 2010/11 season - with the English coach going on to be sacked in January 2011, with the Merseyside club struggling in 10th in the Premier League after losing away to Blackburn Rovers.

Solskjaer took charge of a total of 168 matches as United manager, with the former Reds striker recording 92 victories, 35 draws and 41 losses.
