Jurgen Klopp told Jordan Henderson decision is evidence of problems with Liverpool boss

Jurgen Klopp has been told that Jordan Henderson's reaction to being subbed is evidence there are big problems at Liverpool.

Former Reds midfielder and fellow German Didi Hamann made the claim, suggesting Klopp's Anfield stay could be coming to its natural conclusion as Liverpool endure one of their worst starts to a Premier League season in recent history.

Klopp's current contract expires in the summer of 2026, but Hamann has cast doubt over whether the Champions League-winning boss will still be in the Anfield hot seat by the time his deal ends. The Reds lost for the second time this term on Sunday to league leaders Arsenal, leaving them 14 points adrift of the Gunners.

Hamann conceded to talkSPORT that the time to discuss Klopp's departure could be nearing. "At some stage, I think we will have that discussion about the manager and I'm not sure how far we are off that," he admitted.

The former Liverpool star went on to suggest that there have been small signs of tensions building within the dressing room, even from captain Henderson.

"He [Klopp] said that he still feels that he's the right man to do it, but I see little things like Jordan Henderson midweek seeing his number going up and reluctantly taking his armband off and coming off, shaking his head.

"This is something that we haven't seen at Liverpool for five years. Maybe these are little signs that people have little problems with the team or even the manager. The dynamics at Liverpool are no different to anywhere else and if the results aren’t there then the manager will come under pressure."

Klopp is likely to have plenty of credit in the bank in the eyes of those at the very top of the club hierarchy given he has overseen the most illustrious period of Liverpool's modern history.

With that being said, the Reds are too big of a club to have their title prospects written off by October. That is not coming from fans or pundits either, in what is worrying for owners Fenway Sports Group, Klopp himself ruled Liverpool out of the race for the league.

Speaking after the 3-2 defeat at the Emirates, Klopp claimed: "We are not in the title race. It's naive to sit here and think that we are nearly there.

"We have problems at the moment but, of course, (they are) the team in form, the leader of the table, but (we had) massive problems today. I think even in a really bad situation for us, with early changes and things like this, there are real problems and that is the truth for us."
