Jurgen Klopp tells Rangers how to take Liverpool apart as he slaughters 'horrendous' Brighton display

Furious Jurgen Klopp slaughtered a "horrendous" Liverpool performance against Brighton, pointing to a key weakness Rangers can exploit when the sides meet on Tuesday.

The Anfield giants have been miles off it in the Premier League so far with just two wins from their opening SEVEN league games leaving them languishing in mid-table. They battled back from two early Leandro Trossard strikes to lead 3-2 in front of an expectant home crowd on Saturday but the Belgian winger struck his third late on to secure a share of the points in Roberto De Zerbi's first game in charge.

Klopp has pulled no punches in his assessments of his side's performances so far and wasn't in any mood to defend them after their latest setback against Brighton. Klopp, whose team face Rangers in a vital Champions League clash at Anfield on Tuesday, pinpointed how easily they were picked apart in midfield.

He said after the game: “I don’t know how many times I saw their offensive players just turning between the lines. It was horrendous, really horrible to watch.

“We should defend all three goals better, no doubt about that, but in different areas, not just in the last moment. Three-three feels like a defeat even though it is not, and we have to fight through this. The boys can play much better. My job is to create a situation where they can deliver."

Klopp also reckons his side looked to have regressed to where they were in the early days of his Liverpool tenure, when they could barely qualify for the Europa League - let alone the Champions League final. “If you watch football long enough, you remember games here where we had situations years ago when we were only one goal up," he went on. "It happened quite frequently that everybody was nearly having a heart attack because we were just not convincing in these moments.

“It reminded me of that a bit today. I cannot say I was 100 per cent convinced that we would not concede a goal when we were 3-2 up. It is a sign that the confidence level is now not extraordinarily high.”
