Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp says his side will have to show 'consistency' if they are to get a result against Newcastle United on Wednesday.
The Magpies travel to Anfield in midweek and Liverpool will be in a confident mood following their 9-0 trashing of AFC Bournemouth on Saturday. The Reds had accumulated just two points from their opening three games, but they recorded their first win of the season against the Cherries with the joint biggest victory of the Premier League era.
Newcastle haven't won at Anfield since 1995. They've played Liverpool 26 times in Merseyside since then, but they haven't recorded a win in that period.
Eddie Howe's side are still unbeaten in the Premier League, with Allan Saint-Maximin's late equaliser at Wolves preserving that record. Newcastle have already shown what they can do against the best sides in the division this season, drawing 3-3 with Manchester City last week.
"Wednesday [against Newcastle] will be different," said Klopp after the Bournemouth win.
"If we want to be successful in this league we have to show consistency. That’s what we have to do now. That used to be our strength. We’ll watch Newcastle and see what we can do against them. We have to prove that this is the start. We will make sure we go again."
