Jurgen Klopp has batted away the distraction of Mohamed Salah's Liverpool contract negotiations ahead of their clash with Benfica.
The Anfield boss was keen to keep the focus on preparations for their visit to Benfica for the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final
The ongoing saga of Mohamed Salah’s contract talks at Anfield has been something of a distraction for the club as they bid to secure silverware on four fronts but Klopp has confirmed himself happy with where they are at present.
Salah has scored 20 goals in the Premier League this season but his critics have suggested that his ratio from open play has fallen below that what he has achieved in the past.
Speaking at a press conference ahead of Tuesday’s Champions League quarter-final, Klopp said: “I’m happy with it because there's nothing new to say - that's good.
The decisive parties are talking to each other and that's all I need.”
The manager remarked: “It’s not too important. The thing for me is the performance level which is important.
"The threat is for other teams and he brings players together. When he gets the ball – two or three players are going for him but it’s a tough game for Mo and Sadio (Mane).
“It’s completely normal in a season. We see him every day in training and when playing and he does nothing worry to about. We have to manage the physical part as well.”
Klopp has a full squad to select from ahead of Tuesday’s match and what many have billed as a potential title decider against Manchester City at the Etihad on Sunday.
He added: “We know that one mistake and at least one competition can be gone. We know that. There is no big celebration about the club in previous years; only serious work.
"There is excitement, everybody is looking forward to it.
"We are used to it and the boys enjoy it. We go through what we have to on the pitch, and then we go to the next game. It is exciting and we have no problem; all good. It is the situation we dreamed of so let's try and make the most of it!”
