Jurgen Klopp shuts down talk of 'unrealistic' Liverpool transfer once and for all

Jurgen Klopp has ruled out selling Liverpool No.2 Caoimhin Kelleher this summer amid interest in the goalkeeper from Brentford and Tottenham.

Kelleher, 24, is firmly behind Alisson in the Reds pecking order but is highly regarded at Anfield. That hasn't prevented speculation over his long-term future, though, and a number of Premier League clubs have been credited with an interest in the shot-stopper's services in recent weeks.

Brentford are expected to be in the market for a new goalkeeper this summer with David Raya poised to leave the Londoners in the transfer window, while Spurs are currently on the lookout for a long-term successor to Hugo Lloris.

Kelleher has featured just three times for the Reds this season and has been tipped to branch out in search of regular first-team football.

A report from The Mail earlier this week outlined that it would cost £15million to prise Kelleher away from Anfield - a figure that Brentford consider 'unrealistic' given the Irish international has made just a handful of senior appearances for the Reds.

But Klopp has now emphatically shut down any talk of an exit for Kelleher whatsoever ahead of the summer transfer window.

“Caoimhin Kelleher? He has a contract! You want us to say goodbye just incase?” Klopp said during his pre-match press conference on Friday. “I honestly can’t see Caoimh leaving. It must be an extraordinary offer for me to start thinking [of selling him], I have to say.”

While Klopp is adamant that Kelleher won't be moving on from Merseyside in the coming weeks, Anfield will bid farewell to Roberto Firmino, Naby Keita, James Milner and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain when the Reds play their final home game of the season on Saturday.

All four will move on to pastures new at the end of their current contracts after playing a crucial role in one of the most successful spells in the club's recent history - and Klopp is expecting all of them to get a special send-off.

He added: “We have time until Monday to give them all the farewell they deserve. Millie and Bobby wouldn't like it if people forget Ox and Naby.

“Bobby 100% deserves (his reception). But there is time to give them all the farewell they deserve. Millie played an incredible number of games. Same for Bobby. Ox came here as a young talent and became here a great character and real good guy. Naby, everybody knows. We spent a lot of money, a lot of expectations. Because of injuries he couldn't meet all of them. But look at the football he played in his best moments. Played big games, scored big goals.”
