Liverpool have tended to get transfer window business done early - but during a season of struggles there is a case that to be built that the Reds need to make a late splurge this January.
Dutch attacker Cody Gakpo has already made the move to Anfield this month, having joined from PSV Eindhoven in a deal which could be worth £40m, but several potential targets continue to be linked with the Reds.
Fans are desperate to see owners FSG put up the cash for another top-class midfielder - ideally Jude Bellingham - to strengthen Jurgen Klopp's squad having pinpointed an area on the pitch which is in urgent need of an overhaul.
The ECHO has selected six transfer targets - five of them midfielders - and we want you to select who you want to end up at Anfield, and which players you don't, using our new 'Swerve or Swoop' tool below.
Borussia Dortmund midfielder Bellingham is the most high profile of the six names on the shortlist with Klopp a keen admirer of the youngster.
The 19-year-old England international is being widely tipped to leave the Bundesliga in the summer, so does that mean Klopp should pursue other targets, especially given the need to secure Champions League football?
"I don't think there's a player that's been more speculated about in our squad right now than Jude has been in the last few weeks and months," Dortmund boss Edin Terzic said.
"Because he's an outstanding talent; because he is, I think, past that talent status, even though he's only 19. He is an extremely important player for us."
Moises Caicedo comes under consideration given Brighton might be persuaded to sell the Ecuador star in January. "If there are some bigger teams and they want our player and it's good news for us," said Brighton boss Roberto de Zerbi last Friday.
If Bellingham's head is turned elsewhere, and Liverpool cannot land him, then the Reds may have to look at other midfield options, including Matheus Nunes of Wolves.

The ECHO's Liverpool correspondent Paul Gorst wrote Klopp has a "serious interest in the midfielder" but the club cannot sign him this month given he has already turned out for two other teams this season.
Liverpool have also been linked with Chelsea's Mason Mount, who will only have a year left on his contract by the time the summer rolls around. Would Chelsea be willing to let him go now, given a new deal does not appear to be in sight?
Enzo Fernandez, meanwhile, was on the brink of a move to Stamford Bridge only for it to collapse, which could reignite Liverpool's interest in the World Cup-winning Argentine.
