Jurgen Klopp has said that he “hates himself” for not playing one Liverpool player during the win over Southampton.
The Reds came from behind to claim a 2-1 victory over the Saints in the Premier League clash at St Mary’s. Liverpool trailed the game thanks to an early strike from Nathan Redmond, before goals from Takumi Minamino and Joel Matip helped secure the win for the visitors.
Victory means Liverpool go into the final day of the league season still in with a chance of lifting the Premier League title. The Reds are one point behind leaders Manchester City, who face Aston Villa on the final day while Liverpool take on Wolves at Anfield.

Tuesday night’s win over Southampton saw Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain in the matchday squad for the first time in a league match since the win over Watford at the start of April. He has since not been involved in Liverpool’s last 14 matches in all competitions.
Despite Klopp making nine changes and using all of his substitutes, Oxlade-Chamberlain still couldn’t find his way onto the pitch. Klopp confessed after the game that he “hates himself” for not giving the 28-year-old game time at St Mary’s.
“I didn’t bring on Ox tonight, it’s unbelievable,” Klopp told beIN Sports. “I hate myself for it because he’s such a good player.
“But you have to figure out how it works together.”
Klopp added: “I couldn’t be more proud, I told the boys already and it’s absolutely special.
“Players who have not played for weeks, if not months, delivered tonight like crazy.
“Takumi Minamino, [the fact] that he doesn’t play more often is a crime to be honest. Harvey Elliott was really unbelievable, Curtis Jones, that was a mature performance.”
