Jurgen Klopp reign could transform as Steven Gerrard 'hints' at future Liverpool backroom staff

Here are your Liverpool morning headlines for Saturday, March 26.

Jurgen Klopp reign could be transformed in just 56 days at Liverpool

So this is it for Jurgen Klopp and his Liverpool players. Another week of calm before the nine-week storm.

A storm that will decide not only where this team will land in the end-of-season standings, but also one that could very well define where this collection of players sit among the very best that Anfield has ever produced.

The stakes really are that high right now as the quadruple chase returns next week. From Watford's visit on April 2 through to a potential Champions League final appearance on May 28, it's a 56-day run that could become synonymous with the entire Klopp era.

Steven Gerrard has hinted who his Liverpool backroom staff will be if he replaces Jurgen Klopp

The 41-year-old has publicly admitted he'd like to be Liverpool manager one day but has repeatedly sidestepped the possibility of replacing Jurgen Klopp when the German's contract expires in 2024. Instead, the Reds legend has remained focused on forging his own managerial career away from Anfield, having spent a year in charge of his former club's Under-18s before taking over at Rangers.

Winning the Scottish Premiership last year, to end Celtic's 10-in-a-row hopes in the process, Gerrard returned to England last November when he took over at Villa Park, unable to resist the lure of his first job in the Premier League with Aston Villa once former Liverpool managing director, now Villans chief executive, Christian Purslow came calling.

Mohamed Salah edges out Liverpool team-mate Sadio Mane in Egypt vs Senegal World Cup battle

For the first time in Mohamed Salah's career, Egypt have beaten Senegal to move one game away from a place at the 2022 World Cup.

Just weeks after the dramatic African Cup of Nations final between two of the biggest heavyweights in the African game, both sides met again in a battle to head to this year’s World Cup. Mane’s Senegal emerged victorious in Cameroon to finally win his country the AFCON title following a dramatic penalty shootout.

But here it was a different story. A fourth-minute own goal by Senegal goalkeeper Saliou Ciss was enough to give Egypt a first-leg 1-0 win Cairo.
