Liverpool continue to be linked with a move for RB Leipzig defender Josko Gvardiol.
The Reds have been credited with an interest in signing the Croatia international since his performances for his country at the World Cup. That form has also seen Gvardiol linked with some of Europe’s biggest clubs, as well as Liverpool.
Manchester United, Man City and Real Madrid have both been linked with Gvardiol alongside Liverpool. And now a fresh report has provided an update on the future of the centre-back.
According to Football Insider, Liverpool are “in the running” to sign Gvardiol this summer. It has also been reported that Jurgen Klopp is “pushing” the club to invest in signing Gvardiol at the end of the season.
The report goes further to say that Gvardiol is viewed as an ideal defensive partner for Virgil van Dijk. However, it has not been reported how much Liverpool would need to pay to sign the centre-back this summer.
Liverpool currently have Van Dijk, Ibrahima Konate, Joel Matip, Joe Gomez and Nat Phillips as their centre-back options. As well as midfielder, rumours seem to be gathering pace linking the club with a new defender this summer.
