Jurgen Klopp names his favourite 'pub' in Liverpool

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has named his version of the 'boot room' as the 'best' pub in Liverpool.

The Boot Room is a famous room at Anfield where the coaching staff would meet to drink tea and discuss the team, tactics and ideas that shaped the club and created the backbone for success.

When the new main stand was built and eventually opened in 2016, Klopp ensured traditions continued and formed a new boot room where he continues to meet with his current staff. He detailed when he first learned of the history behind it and described it as their 'safe place'.

"The first thing, which was completely new to me, was when I arrived at Liverpool and I went to the stadium for the first time," he told BT Sport's Boot Room Boys. "They showed me the dressing room and we went down a floor and then they told me 'this is your little boot room'.

"They explained to me and it was really nice, like a little pub in the stadium. I liked it a lot. So in the new stand, we did our own boot room.

"Pretty much Ulla, my wife, was responsible for the furniture and how it looks. For me, it's the best pub in Liverpool!

"After a game, I love going there with all my staff, my friends and their families. It's great, we don't have that in Germany. After a game, you have maybe a corner in the VIP area but it's better when you are together with people you know already.

"It's our safe place, I would say."

The boot room came about during Bill Shankly's transformative time at the club and helped establish some of the club's famous coaches over the years such as Bob Paisley, Joe Fagan, Ronnie Moran, Kenny Dalglish and Roy Evans. Shankly valued the importance of his backroom staff, much like the current Liverpool boss does today.

Klopp continued: "I've said it a couple of times and I say it because it's 100 per cent the truth, I'm an okay manager. Together with my boys I am a pretty good Premier League manager.

"We all know that. We are very close. Together with Pete (Krawietz), Pep (Lijnders), Vitor (Matos) and meanwhile the fitness guys and all these kind of things. We are really close and that's what I love, I never had to change."
