Jurgen Klopp names five Arsenal stars Liverpool are watching in glowing message to Mikel Arteta

Jurgen Klopp has named five Arsenal players that Liverpool will be cautious of ahead of the weekend. The Gunners are set to welcome the Reds to the Emirates Stadium on Sunday, October 9, as they look to defend their place at the top of the Premier League.

Mikel Arteta's side have failed to win in each of their last five attempts against Liverpool, with the German walking winning in both of the previous two clashes. The Arsenal boss will be looking to put the record straight, with the club currently enjoying a great vein of form.

It seems that the mind games have already started as Klopp looks to reignite his side's season and knock the north Londoners off their perch. Speaking to the press ahead of the clash at the weekend, the Liverpool boss was very complimentary of the work that Arteta has done and the project he's building at London Colney.

The 55-year-old said: "All my respect, wow! Really good job from Mikel. When you need time, nobody wants to give you it. I have to say, a lot of respect."

Klopp continued by naming the five players that his side will look to keep tabs on this weekend. He added: "A lot of talent. [Gabriel] Martinelli, I was excited about him early.

"[Martin] Odegaard, I spoke to him at 15 in Norway with his dad. [Bukayo] Saka...ooof. And Gabriel Jesus, Mikel could see how good he could be not in a Man City shirt. Thomas Partey, everyone saw how good he was at Atletico Madrid. Lots of quality. A young, exciting team doing really well. Now we go there and we don't think about [past results]."

Arsenal have opened the scoring in each of their previous four games this season. And, Klopp is aware of the threat the Gunners pose in front of goal - especially amid the growing defensive problems of his own.

"The problem in our situation is we win a game, (then) someone comes around the corner and tells you a problem from the game before," he said. "We know that. It's not in our match plan [to concede first]. We want to be spot on from first second."
