Jurgen Klopp highlights Liverpool response to VAR controversy in Wolves win

Jurgen Klopp has praised his Liverpool players for picking themselves up after a tight VAR call went against them in the 2-0 win over Wolves.

Diogo Jota thought he had put the Reds ahead at Anfield but was pulled back for a foul on defender Max Kilman, in an incident which manager Klopp did not agree with.

He told Premier League Productions: “I saw it back, I don't think it's a foul, in slow motion everything looks like a foul.

“But reacting like this is important for us, tonight is exactly what we needed in a fantastic atmosphere.”

After the disallowed goal, Liverpool’s pressure told with a breakthrough on 73 minutes.

Trent Alexander-Arnold's free-kick was headed goalwards by Virgil van Dijk and Jose Sa could only parry to Jota, who returned the ball into the six-yard where the Netherlands captain was there to nod in.

Six minutes later Mohamed Salah made the game safe when he turned home Kostas Tsimikas' cross to send Liverpool up to sixth place in the Premier League.
