Jurgen Klopp has lauded West Ham forward Jarrod Bowen for making an “unbelievable” step up to challenge for Champions League football.
The Hammers face Liverpool at Anfield on Saturday knowing a win will earn them fourth place in the Premier League.
Bowen has contributed 12 goals and 11 assists in all competitions this season, and Standard Sport recently revealed that Klopp is considering a summer transfer bid ahead of contract talks between the player and West Ham.
“Bowen, what a player he became!” stated the Reds boss on Friday. “Unbelievable.
“We saw him as well at Hull and he was really good at that time. I’m not sure a lot of people expected this jump, but unbelievable player.”
Klopp namechecked Said Benrahma, Michail Antonio and Pablo Fornals ahead of the evening kick-off on Merseyside, the Spaniard having scored in West Ham’s 3-2 win over Liverpool earlier this season.
“Benrahma, outstanding,” he continued. “Fornals, outstanding. Antonio, outstanding.
“All tempo, technique, the combination of that is really good. But we are not bad as well and that is what we have to let them feel.
“In the [away game] against West Ham I don’t think we did that because we were not ourselves, at least not to 100 per cent.”
