Jurgen Klopp gives updates on four Liverpool players as Andy Robertson injury confirmed

Jurgen Klopp has confirmed that Andy Robertson will be out of action until after the international break with an injury he picked up in Liverpool's 4-1 defeat at Napoli last time out.

The Reds are back in action when they host Ajax in the Champions League on Tuesday night and Klopp has revealed that Robertson will not be involved due to a knee issue. Liverpool are then scheduled to take on Chelsea in the Premier League on Sunday, but Mirror Football exclusively reported that the game is not expected to go ahead due to a lack of available police officers ahead of the Queen's state funeral the following Monday.

Klopp provided an injury update at his pre-Ajax press conference and confirmed the troubling news that Robertson is facing a spell in the treatment room. The German said: "Injured, Robbo now is not 100 per cent, it was very late, in the 93rd minute or whatever, he actually felt it the next day only. But yes, he is out and he is out at least until after the international break."

The Liverpool boss also said that Curtis Jones is still "not available", but there was better news regarding Fabio Carvalho. The young playmaker is back in training and could feature in some capacity against Ajax.

Jones, meanwhile, hasn't played a single minute this campaign after suffering a calf injury in pre-season. He was named on the bench for the Reds' game against Newcastle last month but has since suffered a recurrence of the issue and will not play in their second Champions League game.

Carvalho, however, is back in contention after recovering from a dead leg he sustained in the goalless draw with Everton at the start of the month - an injury that kept him out of the trip to Naples. The 19-year-old has made an impressive start to life at Anfield, so his return will be welcomed by Klopp, although it hasn't been confirmed whether he is fit enough to start.

Naby Keita is another Liverpool player who has struggled with injury issues of late. The midfielder suffered a serious hamstring injury in pre-season. He, like Jones, hasn't featured at all this season and Klopp doesn't expect him to go on international duty with Guinea given his lack of minutes. Discussing Keita, Klopp added: "We had to make a decision and that's why he's not with us [in Champions League squad]."

Robertson's issue means he joins a lengthy injury list that includes Keita, Jones, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Ibrahima Konate, Jordan Henderson and Caoimhin Kelleher. With the Scotland captain unavailable, Kostas Tsimikas is set to replace him at left-back against Ajax.
