Jurgen Klopp gives Mohamed Salah injury update after Liverpool striker comes off in Brighton win

Jurgen Klopp has issued an update on the injury that Mohamed Salah suffered in Liverpool’s 2-0 win at Brighton & Hove Albion.

Salah grabbed his 20th Premier League goal of the season when he scored a penalty just after the hour mark to double the Reds' advantage after Luis Diaz’s headed opener.

The victory means Liverpool move within three points of Manchester City, who are set to face Crystal Palace on Monday night.

However, shortly after converting from the spot, Salah went down and required treatment from the club’s medical staff before being replaced by Diogo Jota.

Jurgen Klopp offered an update on the extent of the injury in his post-match interview with BT Sport.

“We will see,” Reds boss said , when asked about the nature of the injury.

"He thinks it’s not serious but you can see when Mo Salah is sitting down then something is not 100 per cent right.

"I think it was the situation before when he hit the ball and got blocked – he wanted to shoot and got blocked and I think the foot got slightly overstretched. We have to see.”

The goal took Salah’s overall tally for the season to 28, combined with 10 assists across 35 games.

It remains to be seen whether the Egyptian forward will be involved when Liverpool travel to London to face Arsenal in their next league game on Wednesday.
