Jurgen Klopp frustration boils over as he snaps at reporter with "not my problem" remark

Jurgen Klopp snapped at a reporter who repeatedly asked him questions about Real Madrid in his post-match press conference after Liverpool were thrashed 5-2 by the Spanish giants in the first leg of their Champions League Round of 16 tie.

The Reds made an electric start at Anfield and raced into a two-goal lead after just 14 minutes courtesy of strikes from Darwin Nunez and Mohamed Salah. Vinicius Junior bagged a quickfire brace to restore parity before the break. Eder Militao nudged Los Blancos into the lead early in the second-half before Karim Benzema scored twice to leave Liverpool with a mountain to climb ahead of next month's return leg at the Bernabeu.

Tuesday night's reverse marks a new low for the Reds, who have struggled on all fronts this season. And Klopp's frustrations boiled over after the match when he was asked several questions about Real Madrid players by Spanish journalists.

The German gave a blunt reply when he was asked whether Vinicius is now one of the best attackers in the world before he snapped after being asked whether or not he'd give Luka Modric a new deal.

"Oh god," said Klopp. "You obviously are not too much interested in my problems, so this is not one of my problems. Yeah, fantastic player and I’m pretty sure Carlo [Ancelotti] and Real Madrid will do the right thing for the right player."

Before the next journalist was able to ask his question, Klopp quickly quipped: "Please ask me more questions about Real Madrid players."

Tuesday night's meeting at Anfield was a repeat of last season's Champions League final, which Real Madrid won 1-0 courtesy of Vinicius Junior.

Liverpool will now need to overturn a three-goal deficit in Spain next month in order to progress to the next phase of the competition at the expense of the reigning champions - and Klopp conceded in the aftermath of Tuesday night's match that such a feat feels unlikely right now.

He added: "I think Carlo thinks the tie is over – and I think it as well in the moment. But in three weeks – that is how it is in these moments – the closer you get to the game, the bigger our chances become and the less likely that the tie is over.

"But tonight with a 5-2 when you see the game, they are pretty good in counter-attacking… we have to score there three goals and take some risks. That could be a bit tricky.

"But it's really not in my mind so we go there, I can say that now already, and try and win the game. If that’s possible or not right now I don’t know but that’s what we will try and from there we will see."
