Jurgen Klopp has explained his recent Didi Hamann criticism was fuelled by constant comments made by the ex-Liverpool midfielder over the years.
The Reds' boss took offence to a question in a press conference over whether his side were lacking a 'spark' and delivered a sarcastic response after learning this was a comment made by Hamann.
"I actually think Didi Hamann does not deserve that you use his phrase to ask a question. Do me a favour and ask your own question. Try to ask without using the word spark," Klopp told reporters when asked if he agreed with the verdict of the Reds' 2005 Champions League final winner.

Klopp is certainly not the first manager to have come under pressure this season, with Steven Gerrard's sacking at Aston Villa highlighting the ruthless nature of the football industry. Sharing his thoughts on the lack of time afforded to coaches, the Liverpool manager told BT Sport: " I've never got the sack, I can’t really explain why from my previous clubs and never got the feeling someone wanted me to be out - so that’s my situation. Apart from that, the pressure you make on yourself is more than the outside world do so I know when things don’t go well. I have one solution where I say 'okay the manager is wrong'; if I was I’d put my arm up. As long as that’s not the case, I need to find solutions in different situations.
"For me the big difference is the owners, president, they always thought I’m the one they want to sort the situation. With Stevie now, Aston Villa, everything got a bit nervous. From the outside, you thought that could be tricky and now the red card [Douglas Luiz against Fulham has been overturned] isn’t a red card… wow. It’s really tough. The pressure is there of course but the inside pressure is much more than outside, the rest is talk. When I reacted on Didi Hamann it was not because what he mentioned about me, it was all the things he mentioned over the years. I just was in the mood."
