Jurgen Klopp explains what Mohamed Salah "found on holiday" to make him even better

Jurgen Klopp has joked that Mohamed Salah "found a right foot on holiday" after hailing the Egyptian's development in attack.

Liverpool managed to tie the forward down to a new long-term deal this summer after nearly 12 months of discussions regarding his future. Salah has been prolific ever since he moved to Anfield in 2017, with the majority of his goals coming courtesy of his wand of a left foot.

Klopp discussed the prolific wide forward ahead of Liverpool's clash with Manchester United and spoke about how he is able to go both ways more than ever, such is the quality on his so-called weaker side. With Darwin Nunez introduced to the starting XI, Liverpool have a focal point to aim for, which could see them become more of a crossing outfit.

This requires Salah and whoever plays on the left flank to hold their width more often, having previously made darting runs inside. Nonetheless, Klopp insists the former Chelsea man is more potent than ever.

He told Sky Sports : “I think he found a right foot on holiday. He always develops. It’s really crazy. I know a few years back he arrived and usually when a player comes from outside inside they use the inside of the foot to spin the ball and all of a sudden he had the full throttle – the Chelsea goal is a pretty remarkable one. This year he arrived with crosses with his right foot.”

Salah scored on the opening weekend of the season against Fulham but was unable to notch against Crystal Palace on Monday night. His next opponent will be Manchester United at Old Trafford - a game in which he scored a hat-trick last term as the Reds ran riot.

However, Klopp believes the Red Devils' poor start to the campaign, that has seen them lose twice and concede six, makes them a more challenging proposition. He said: "I would prefer to play them after they won 5-0, definitely. That's how it is. But it's not dreamland, so we have to take it like it is. We drew two games, so is it better to play us in a situation like this, or is it worse?

"I don't know. It's just the situation and in the end, there's a start in the game but then 89 minutes are still to go, so you have to deal with all the situations in the game and in this moment obviously nobody knows exactly what will happen around the game, we don't know. I think the whole world will watch it, it's Monday night anyway, everybody can watch it, and you will see how these two heavyweights deal with the situation. I would watch it, I will watch it."
