Jurgen Klopp copies Thomas Tuchel Chelsea impression after Man United shock Liverpool

Jurgen Klopp and Thomas Tuchel were in agreement this weekend that both Liverpool and Chelsea should have 'won' their respective Premier League fixtures against Man United and Leeds United respectively.

The pair were expected to nearly have the full maximum nine points from the available nine in three games but what has unfolded has nearly been the exact opposite. Chelsea have won one, lost one and drew one. Meanwhile, Liverpool, who many tipped for the Premier League title, have drawn two and lost one which was the most recent Monday Night Football against their great rivals Man Utd. This accumulated to the Blues being placed 12th whilst the Reds are four places behind with a mere two points.

Most importantly though, both already have a great points deficit to make up to high flyers Arsenal and Man City, both of who have started the 2022/23 campaign on the right foot. Next up for Chelsea and Liverpool respectively are Leicester City and Bournemouth. Two fixtures that many expect the past European Champions to pick up maximum points and get themselves right back at the top end of the table but who knows? Liverpool's midfield and Chelsea's defence haven't looked at all steady and impressive at this early point.

Although judging by both Klopp and Tuchel's words, you would have assumed that their teams had picked up maximum points with some of the things they were coming out with in their respective post-match interviews.

"We should have won this game, I know it sounds ridiculous but that is how I saw it," Klopp told the BBC.

Tuchel said after Leeds: "We were clearly the better team. They do what they do but we were clearly the better team: I don't see that a set-piece and an own goal is due to the style, it's due to our mistakes."

The reality is both teams have started the season unimpressively. But this is the Premier League, and things can change very quickly.
