Chuffed Jurgen Klopp needed to wrack his brains to keep up with his side's rousing 7-1 romp over overmatched Rangers.
The Liverpool boss cut a visibly frustrated figure in the first half but any mumps were replaced with his trademark beaming smile as his side went goal crazy to secure remarkable win at Ibrox. He insisted he liked much of the opening 45 minutes despite his side being below their best at 1-1.
But the remarkable Roberto Firmino helped himself to a double before teeing up Darwin Nunez. Mo Salah then scored the fastest Champions League hat-trick in history before Harvey Elliot grabbed a much-deserved seventh. Rangers punters, buoyed by the early exchanges, headed for the exits long before the final whistle. Speaking on BT Sport, the German said: "Actually, I liked the first half already, big parts of it at least, of course we conceded a goal, it was well played, the reaction was good,
"In our good spells in the first half we already played exceptional between the lines. We showed the boys situations we can do, we had to it more often and it would be pretty exhausting for Rangers because it was tough to defend us in these moments."
And that before Klopp needed a momentary pause to get his numbers right. He added: "Darwin opened the box then boom, Salah, and the it was, who else scored? Harvey eh? Six (scorers)?"
He was quick to praise his Liverpool collective after saluting Salah's major impact from the bench. Klopp knows the importance of the resounding win before Manchester City arrive at Anfield on Sunday. The 55-year-old said: "He is an outstanding player (Salah) we all know, and today he showed that and it is good. Everybody was spot on, in a difficult game. I didn't see a lot of players who didn't play really well."
