Jurgen Klopp confirms Luis Diaz's Liverpool return at Leeds but two stars miss training

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp says Luis Diaz is "100 per cent ready" to return to action against Leeds on Monday, but both Ibrahima Konate and Alisson are doubts.

Diaz has not played for Liverpool since October, having suffered a knee injury in their 3-2 defeat to Arsenal at the Emirates. And after spending more than six months on the sidelines, Klopp has confirmed the forward will be in the squad when Liverpool travel to Elland Road.

"He's 100 per cent ready in training so that's it now," Klopp said in his pre-match press conference. "He is now completely normal in training and now we have to reintegrate him. He will be in the squad, if nothing happens Luis will be in the squad and from there we go.

"Absolutely it is [like having a new signing]. Luis, he developed massively. In that time his English is getting better, so he is really settled. He was here every day – how it is with injured players and especially long-term injured players, they are even more at the training ground than all the others, so every day together with therapists and stuff like this.

"He really matured again, he is much more comfortable than he was in the beginning with everything in a new country, so that’s really good and it will help him as well. So, we are really happy to have him back."

Despite being delighted to have Diaz available once again, Klopp could be without Konate and Alisson for the trip to Leeds, revealing they both missed two training sessions this week after playing the full 90 minutes in the 2-2 draw with Arsenal on Sunday. "We had a couple of problems this week: Ibou [Konate] couldn't train for two days, should be back today hopefully, Ali wasn't involved for two days, will train today individually," Klopp said.

"So, a little bit illness here, a little bit knocks there. We had a few problems and hopefully will not get more, but if they are all in then I think we have five or six players not in the [matchday] squad. It's a lot and they are all training well."

And Klopp is hoping Liverpool can get a measure of revenge on Leeds, having been beaten 2-1 by them at Anfield earlier in the season. He added: "They owe us three points. It will be a big fight, a massive fight in the situation Leeds is in.

"Their last game [a 5-1 loss to Crystal Palace ], these kinds of games can happen. They are actually in a pretty good moment but in this game they got a proper knock. These things can happen, because magic Roy [Hodgson] is back. Palace are a really good team. It was a tough one.

"We expect them to be on their toes, a massive fight, proper atmosphere. It will be a tough one but we have to build on two games where we were good or in moments really good. We will try to do that."
