Jurgen Klopp confirms guaranteed Liverpool starter in FA Cup and makes Harvey Elliott admission

Jurgen Klopp has confirmed Alisson Becker will start against Nottingham Forest on Sunday, while elaborating on Harvey Elliott's lack of minutes in recent weeks.

The Brazilian started in the FA Cup fifth round against Norwich City, having seen Caoimhin Kelleher given the nod in the League Cup final against Chelsea days earlier. However, the Irishman had been expected to return against Forest, having started earlier in the competition against Shrewsbury Town and Cardiff City.

Meanwhile, Elliott hasn't featured since the Reds' cup victory over Norwich at the start of March, with the teenager making five appearances since returning from a five-month lay-off with a dislocated ankle with a goal against Cardiff last month.

Klopp is set to make changes against Forest, with the Liverpool boss already confirming that Trent Alexander-Arnold will miss the game while Mohamed Salah and James Milner are both doubts. Yet to decide his side for the match as a result, he did reveal who would start in goal before explaining Elliott's recent situation.

"FA Cup is Ali," the German told reporters. "We're not managing him (Elliott) really to be honest. It's the competition for places and stuff like this.

"He was really long out, came back and immediately looked, 'Wow, he's back!' But then everything settles slightly and that's how it is. A completely normal situation, it's all fine. He's training well, it's all fine."
