Jurgen Klopp confirms another Liverpool midfield injury blow after Newcastle win

Jurgen Klopp confirmed Liverpool have suffered another injury blow after Jordan Henderson was forced off with a hamstring problem in the win against Newcastle.

Henderson was replaced on the 71st minute in what looked to be a tactical switch from the Liverpool boss with Kostas Tsimikas and James Milner also entering the field.

The Reds left it late to snatch all three points with Fabio Carvalho smashing home in the 98th minute after a frustrating evening at Anfield.

Klopp's trademark fist-pumps returned at full-time following a huge win but another injury concern was confirmed at full-time with Henderson the latest midfielder to pull up with a problem.

"Hendo is injured. He got a hamstring which is not helpful," he said when asked about deadline day incomings.

"It was that serious that he could not carry on. It was not a tactical change."

Henderson will undergo a scan to reveal the severity of the problem ahead of the Merseyside derby on Saturday. Liverpool were boosted by the return of both Curtis Jones and Joel Matip to the bench against the Magpies with Diogo Jota also set to re-join first-team training on Thursday

Klopp cut a frustrated figure at times during the game as Newcastle attempted to run down the clock which angered the Anfield crowd.

The Liverpool boss was asked about the touchline incident caught on camera following Carvalho's late winner but claimed he did not see what happened.

He said: "I didn't see it. I turned in this direction to celebrate and when I turned, I was surprised to see what had happened on the other side

"I can't say too much more about it."
