Jurgen Klopp boost as Liverpool kick-off time for Arsenal FA Cup trip confirmed

Liverpool's Saturday lunchtime curse has been avoided in the FA Cup third-round trip to Arsenal.

Kick-off times and TV selections have now been confirmed for next month's fixtures, with Manchester United's game at Wigan and Tottenham versus Burnley among those picked for live broadcast.

Arsenal will welcome Liverpool to Emirates Stadium on Sunday, January 7 at 4.30pm GMT, live on BBC One.

That hands the Anfield giants at least the comfort of a six-day break between their Premier League clash at home to Newcastle on New Year's Day, the previous Monday.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has railed against the Reds being moved to Saturday lunchtime kick-offs this season, particularly after international breaks.

The German shot back at an Amazon Prime Video presenter after Wednesday's win over Sheffield United after they made light of the situation, branding him "ignorant".

Arsenal, meanwhile, travel to Fulham on New Year's Eve, meaning they have a week off before the FA Cup third round having played West Ham at home on December 28, two days after Liverpool's Boxing Day trip to Burnley.

The FA Cup third-round ties will be spread over five days, starting with Crystal Palace versus Everton on Thursday, January 4, to be shown on ITV4. ITV1 will air Tottenham's home game against Burnley a day later.

Sunderland face Newcastle in the Tyne-Wear derby on ITV1 on the Saturday lunchtime before Championship side Middlesbrough host Aston Villa that evening, on BBC One.

Arsenal and Liverpool go toe-to-toe in the only of Sunday's games, before Wigan entertain Manchester United on ITV1 on the Monday night.
