Jurgen Klopp and Pep Guardiola post-match conversation captured after Man City and Liverpool draw

Jurgen Klopp and Pep Guardiola shared a light-hearted exchange on the pitch following Liverpool and Manchester City's 2-2 draw on Sunday afternoon.

After watching their players go head-to-head during 90 minutes of thrilling football, there was time for a quick conversation before conducting their post-match interviews pitchside. Klopp made his way over to the travelling Liverpool fans when heading out for his media duties, though later confirmed he was searching for his partner in the crowd.

The wife of the Reds' boss, Ulla, has previously been spotted stood on top of a rubbish bin during Liverpool's parade following the 2019 Champions League win in Madrid and now appears to be keen on following the side away from home.

It's a topic of conversation that came up between Klopp and Guardiola, with the City boss suggesting she could have watched the game in the stands at the Etihad Stadium. "We have a good quality, you are rich people!" Joked the former Barcelona boss while gesturing to a particular area in the ground.

Responding to this suggestion of the Catalan coach, Klopp responded: "I know. I told her don't do that. But she was in the crowd against United and got an elbow and now she wanted to go again."

What has been clear to see in the build-up to this weekend's decisive fixture and following the full-time whistle is the mutual respect that exists between the two managers. Speaking after the game, Guardiola once again reinforced his admiration for the work of his opposite number.

"I don't know if Jurgen respects me, but he has to know that I respect him a lot. He makes me a better manager since our time in Germany with Bayern and Dortmund and his teams are always positive, aggressive, want to score goals and attack. I try to imitate him in that sense," the City coach told Sky Sports.

"We are not friends, we don't see each other, we never have dinner together - maybe one day in the Hall of Fame. I have his telephone number, but I don't call him. I have a lot of respect, but he knows next Saturday I am going to try to beat him."
