Jurgen Klopp admits Liverpool held 'positive' transfer talks during international break

Jurgen Klopp has revealed Liverpool have made "positive" progress during the international break as they ramp up attempts to remould their squad in the summer.

The Reds are expected to be busy in the forthcoming transfer window as they look to reinforce their playing options after an underwhelming campaign which has left them facing a battle to qualify for the Champions League.

Liverpool are also assessing their options regards a new sporting director, with incumbent Julian Ward leaving his position at the end of the season after only a year in the role.

Ward will continue to work with the Liverpool recruitment team until his departure as the Reds ponder a number of targets, with strengthening the midfield a priority.

And while admitting no final decisions have been made, Klopp has explained how talks have been taking place over the last fortnight aimed at progressing a number of potential deals.

"It's actually the only thing that we do during the international break, apart from having a few days off," said the Reds boss.

"I don't plan training sessions as I don't know who is coming back, how and when."

Asked how successful the time was spent in considering new signings and a possible new sporting director, Klopp said: "It was good. On the player side, it was positive, I would say.

"But it's talks, not decisions. But we are busy, you can imagine."
