Jurgen Klopp has revealed Liverpool are continuing to work on strengthening their squad before the transfer deadline – but won’t compromise on any targets.
The Reds are assessing their options as they grapple with an ongoing availability crisis that will see them without 10 senior players for Saturday’s Premier League visit of Bournemouth.
Liverpool have not made any incomings since June 19 when 19-year-old right back Calvin Ramsay followed Darwin Nunez and Fabio Carvalho in arriving at Anfield.

There have been subsequent calls by sections of the fanbase for a new midfielder given the lack of current options in the engine room, particularly with Liverpool having been interested in Aurelien Tchouameni earlier this summer before the player opted to leave Monaco for Real Madrid.
And when asked if the Reds will make a signing before the deadline on Thursday at 11pm, Klopp said: “I don’t know.
“As you can imagine, we are actually working constantly on these kind of things, but we have spoken about the reasons why it is sometimes not happening – sometimes too expensive, sometimes not the right player – but then the situation changes, things like this. One thing stays important, and it’s that it needs to be the right player.
“We are working and will see if something will happen or not, I don’t know.”
Naby Keita became the latest player on the sidelines when picking up an injury in training last weekend, with extent of the injury still to be determined.
And when discussing if the type of player required could change depending on his available players, the Reds boss said: “The criteria doesn’t change. It might not be the same player but it must still be the right player. Some players are just not available, that’s how it is.
“If we do something it’ll be that we are 100% convinced about it, and if we are not convinced, then we don’t do it. That’s the situation.”
