Jurgen Klopp admits late Liverpool transfer 'depends on offers'

Jurgen Klopp has admitted Liverpool’s transfer window activity might not yet be over amid speculation about Nat Phillips’ future and that they have to be ‘prepared for everything’ before next week’s deadline day.

The Reds recalled Rhys Williams from his loan spell at Blackpool earlier this week in anticipation of expected interest in Phillips before the transfer window closes.

And while Klopp suggested Liverpool will listen to offers for Phillips, who spent the second half of last season on loan at AFC Bournemouth, he admitted he doesn’t know if the centre-back will move on or not before the end of the month.

“It depends on the offers,” he said. “We have to be prepared for pretty much everything.

“I don’t know, the 31st is deadline day and we will see. I don’t know.”

While Phillips’ future might be uncertain, Klopp has spent most of January insisting that Cody Gakpo will be Liverpool’s only new mid-season arrival. Only time will tell if that stance changes before Tuesday’s transfer deadline.

The January transfer window will close at 11pm on Tuesday 31 January
