Jurgen Klopp admits emphatic Ajax victory has given Liverpool a lift ahead of Leeds United clash

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp believes his side's 3-0 win over Ajax will give his players a lift heading into Saturday's clash with Leeds United. The Reds secured their qualification for the last-16 of the Champions League with a comprehensive victory in Amsterdam thanks to goals from Mo Salah, Darwin Nunez and Harvey Elliott.

It had appeared as though Liverpool were beginning to find their old groove in the Premier League thanks to back-to-back wins over Manchester City and West Ham United. However, they were brought back down to earth at the weekend as they fell to a disappointing 1-0 defeat at bottom of the table Nottingham Forest.

Liverpool will now be hoping they can use that momentum generated from such a positive result on Wednesday night when they take on Leeds at Anfield. Klopp's side will have just two days to prepare for the Whites' visit with the two teams set to go head-to-head in front of the Sky cameras on Saturday night.

Leeds head into the game winless in eight league matches and Liverpool can really pile the pressure on Jesse Marsch with a win. Speaking after the win at Ajax, Klopp admitted his side 'feel great' after such an impressive win but claims their attentions will turn swiftly towards Leeds.

He said: "We don’t have to talk about that all the time but it is clear. We are in the knockout stages and I will never take that for granted and it is really helpful for the club and of course it gives us a lift, but for tonight we feel great and now in a few days time we prepare for Leeds."
