Jurgen Klopp admits 'darker moment' for Liverpool and explains urgent next step

Jurgen Klopp admits Liverpool are in a "darker moment" but is adamant his team can collectively fight through their ongoing disappointing start to the season.

The Reds let slip a 3-2 lead having come back from 2-0 down as they were held to a 3-3 Premier League draw by Brighton and Hove Albion at Anfield on Saturday.

Having won just two of their opening seven top-flight games, Liverpool are suffering their worst start to a league season in a decade and already stand a whopping 11 points off early leaders Arsenal, albeit with a game in hand.

Klopp's side face a difficult fortnight with next Sunday's trip to the Emirates sandwiched by home and away Champions League games against Rangers before being followed by a visit from champions Manchester City.

And while there were some decent performances against Brighton by Alisson Becker and two-goal Roberto Firmino, the Liverpool boss found it difficult to see beyond a significant number of issues still affecting his team.

"There were positives, obviously, but overshadowed by a few other things," said Klopp, speaking to LFC TV.

"In general, we can talk about individual players, but when we win I don't like it too much and when we lose I don't like it too much. We have to just make sure that we have the team perform on a consistent high level then everyone will score goals.

"You can't imagine that we will give up. Now Rangers and then to a flying Arsenal.

"We had different situations last year, much nicer situations. It's nice to have them but we have to be ready for the darker moments as well and that's where we are at the moment. We have to fight through that together and we will do."
