Ireland is set for a period of "prolonged inflation" as the cost of living continues to soar, hitting hard working people.
Inflation across the euro area rose to 8.6% in June according to an initial estimate by statistical agency Eurostat.
Ireland was reportedly estimated at 9.6%, higher than many forecasters had predicted.
