Knicks star Julius Randle was a late addition to the NBA Three-Point Contest at All-Star Weekend, replacing Trail Blazers sharpshooter Anfernee Simons. Randle struggled in his lone round of the competition, scoring just 13 points, the second fewest of the playing pool, outdoing only Kings wing Kevin Huerter.
The performance from the New York All-Star was so bad, his own three-year-old son, Kyden, was brought to tears in the crowd in what was a priceless reaction.
Randle had to turn around and try to console his son after his abysmal outing, as the toddler was visibly disappointed with his father's showing, via NBA on TNT.
Randle's son face was full of pure despair after the 13-point performance in the first round. Damian Lillard, who was eventually crowned the champion of the competition, couldn't help but laugh as Randle tried to cheer up his son.
Including Randle in the competition was a curious choice, to say the least. The Knicks star is shooting just 33.8 percent from three-point range this season, though he's making a career-high 2.7 per contest. The league average shooting percentage from deep is 36 percent.
As for his performance, Randle may want to put on a show during the All-Star Game to get back into his son's good graces. A big outing Sunday night could be just the recipe for turning that disappointed frown into a smile.
