Julian Nagelsmann Chelsea plan revealed as Todd Boehly plot affects Tottenham manager search

Julian Nagelsmann has been heavily linked with the Tottenham managerial position following the sacking of Antonio Conte on Sunday night. The German has only recently lost his job himself, after he was replaced by former Blues boss Thomas Tuchel at Bayern Munich.

Nagelsmann is open to talks with Tottenham over replacing Antonio Conte, according to Sky Sports. However, further reports suggest Daniel Levy may have to contend with competition from London rivals Chelsea if they wish to tempt the 35-year-old into the Spurs hot seat.

As reported by Sky Germany's Florian Plettenberg, Nagelsmann is also on Chelsea's shortlist if Todd Boehly chooses to end the Graham Potter project early and dismiss the current Blues manager this summer. Plettenberg also confirmed Spurs' interest in the young German as they seek a permanent replacement to Conte.

Nagelsmann currently leads the betting odds with regards to who will be Tottenham manager for the first game of the 2023/24 season. Priced at 15/8, he leads Mauricio Pochettino and current Eintracht Frankfurt head coach Oliver Glasner, who fall shortly behind at 3/1 and 5/1 respectively.

However, if the Spurs project doesn't appeal the former 1899 Hoffenheim and RB Leipzig head coach, Boehly could swoop in and tempt him with a move to west London instead. That being said, football.london understands Potter still has the backing of Boehly and the board, but that will not last forever if results fail to impress in the final two months of the campaign, particularly the Champions League quarter-final against Real Madrid.

If Nagelsmann were to take charge of either London role, what sort of play style would he play? Speaking to the Telegraph in 2021, he insisted that entertaining fans was a No. 1 priority, saying: "Winning is what matters and winning is entertaining.

“I never want to change my offensive and attacking football because I love it and I love it when the fans have an emotional time in the stadium. So I will not change this. But if there is a time when I cannot win like this then I will have to change.”
