Julian Alvarez sends warning to Arsenal as striker makes Man City title point

Julian Alvarez insists Manchester City's mentality will not waver over the final few weeks of the season as they seek to secure the Premier League title.

Pep Guardiola's men returned to the top of the table for the first time since February with a weekend win at Fulham, while City remain in the hunt for an historic treble. They face Real Madrid in the last four of the Champions League before a Manchester derby in the FA Cup in early June.

And City have moved into pole position in the Premier League with a stunning run of form that has coincided with a wobble from long-term leaders Arsenal. The Gunners could reclaim top spot with victory over Chelsea on Tuesday but they were comprehensively beaten by City last time out and are winless in four.

And while City are now clear favourites for the title, Alvarez - who scored a stunning winner at Craven Cottage on Sunday - says the Blues squad won't be taking the foot off the gas.

"This is where we wanted to be at the start of the season," he said, speaking to City's official website. "Everyone's put in really good work and now we've reached the top we need to defend it. Every game is a final for us and everyone's going to pull together to make that final effort."

He added: "It was a very important win for us (against Fulham). Especially after the win against Arsenal, we'll be able to catch up. We need to keep this going.

"It was really nice to score here, a really important goal at an important point of the match. Really nice to contribute. We knew it would never be easy coming here because of the pitch, because of how good Fulham are as a team. We were very happy to withstand the pressure and hold out."
