Judge Sommer Gives Jury Instructions In Alec Baldwin Trial

Alec Baldwin maintains his innocence

Judge Mary Marlowe Sommer commenced the court proceedings by delivering instructions to the jury in the ongoing case involving Alec Baldwin.

During her address, Judge Sommer underscored the public nature of Alec Baldwin's trial and cautioned the jury about potential distractions that may arise.

She stated, 'This is a public proceeding, so people may go in and out. You may find yourself looking at who goes in and out, but after a while, you'll get used to it. But if there is anything that is distracting you from being able to listen and be involved in this case, please inform the bailiff immediately. He'll notify me, and I'll take necessary steps to eliminate the distraction.'

Jurors were informed that they have the option to pose questions; however, these queries must be written down and submitted to the judge. Judge Sommer will then determine whether the question should be directed to the prosecutors or Alec Baldwin's defense team.

The jury panel was explicitly instructed that they are prohibited from engaging in discussions related to the case until they form a jury that is actively deliberating.
